My life is SUPER BUSY, just like most of us are anymore. In my hectic life there are plenty of things that I just don't have time to do. Regardless of how busy I am, I do make time for healthy meal plans. No, it's not always easy. But my health is very important to me and that makes the extra time spent planning and preparing wholesome meals worth the effort. So even though it seems like you are constantly in a rush, making time for good nutrition IS possible.
Know What Your Meals Are Going To Be Ahead Of Time
It's actually easier and much less stressful to plan your meals ahead of time. Then you aren't sitting there hungry wondering what to eat. Sit down and come up with meals and snacks for the whole week at one time. Do it on paper or the computer, whichever suits you best. Think about what you will be doing each day and what type of meals and snacks would work best on which days.
If you post them on a dry erase board or a page on your refrigerator, the rest of the family will know what to expect as well (and who knows; maybe even kick in to help). There's not a right or wrong way to plan a menu. Do it however it works best for you. Just remember, your meals need to be nutritious (no processed foods allowed).
Grocery Shop All At Once
A Menu Plan Of Healthy Meals Helps Ward Off Those Impulse Purchases
Use that menu you planned to make a grocery list for the whole week. Go to the store once a week and stock your kitchen with the items needed to make your healthy meals. It'll be easier to stick to your nutritious meal plan if you already have what you need at home.
Have your list with you when you go to the store. Then you won't forget any of the things you need to make your healthy meals AND you will be able to ward off sudden impulses to put those cookies, chips, or other junk into your cart. Good job! Not only have you stocked your kitchen for the week, you have also freed up some time during the week that you would have had to make that last minute stop at the store.
Keep Meals Simple and Prepare Plenty of Food
Prepare plenty of food when you make your meals. Don't just cook half that chicken, throw the whole thing in and you will have another meal ready to go. Then smile knowing just how efficient you are. You just saved yourself a little time tomorrow. That meal will be an easy reheat and eat. Don't you just love leftovers? I always appreciate having to spend a little less of your time in the kitchen.
Gourmet meals are not required for healthy eating. If you like to cook and preparing a beautiful and appetizing gourmet meal makes you happy then by all means go for it. When having people over for a fancy dinner party Gourmet meals are perfect. But your day to day meals do not need to be elaborate. I like to remember to "Keep It Simple Sweetie" when I'm putting dinner together. A fresh salad garnished with a boiled egg or salmon makes a great meal when you don't have much time.
Planning nutritious meals can seem difficult when your life seems to be in warp speed. However, if you really want to improve your health and lose weight, finding time to plan and prepare wholesome meals is vital. Go ahead and try some of these tips - see how well they work for you.
