Using A Low Cost Dentist

By Shari Swanson

There are many people locally that use a low cost dentist Washington DC location for all of their dental needs. These offices still give top notch service, but a few offer income sensitive payment options. Below are a few things you should expect when using one of these offices.

You should try to get a copy of your personal records from your previous dental office to offer to the new least expensive office you will switch to. If you don't have yours, you will probably be required to have another checkup and X-rays that you will have to pay for. So just for this reason it is a good idea to have your records available.

Some of these offices require you to make an appointment months ahead of time, or may not be accepting new patients. You should call ahead and ask about the requirements for becoming a patient, as some will need income paperwork. This could include your tax returns, check stubs for the previous six months as well as social security numbers for each person living in the household.

There are no restrictions as to who can become a patient, so even if you have insurance you could still be accepted. However these offices exist to help those in the community who are unable to afford full cost services from other offices. You may or may not be given the opportunity to be on a sliding pay scale based on your income and the number of people that live at that address.

You can expect to get services here like other offices such as check ups, root canals, denture fittings, fillings, extractions and cleanings and some even offer periodontics and orthodontics if the doctors are available. There could be instances where you need to go to other locations if that doctor is at another office on the date you have your appointment.

If you want to become a patient of the low cost dentist washington dc offices, you should contact your local health department. You will be offered a list of all participating locations for these payment options. For details on getting in as a new patient, you should check with the office.
